UN-SIGH-CHI is a non profit organization which supports people with Anxiety Disorders.

One of my achievements in this anxiety journey is when I climbed my first mountain. I don’t know what came over me but when a close friend invited me to join, I immediately agreed. No hesitation, no doubts. I have never tried this kind of adventure before since I always thought of the bad things that may happen and that it will be far from the hospital. Also, I had asthma when I was a child. At that time, I did not think I was fit for the activity but my friend assured me that I can do it. He trained me for weeks as a preparation for the event to boost my stamina. I worked my ass off.

Whats weird, unlike other activities that I felt anxious of, is that days before the event, it did not feel dreadful. In fact, I was looking forward to it. I prepared myself physically and emotionally. It’s so unlike me to just pack my bag and go somewhere I am not familiar with. I did not feel fear before, during and after the activity at all. It was so bizarre. It was a spur of the moment decision but it made me feel bliss when I reached the top.

The journey was very hard though. There were moments that I wanted to give up because I was so tired and I thought I will collapse. I am thankful that my close friends were carrying my bag and guiding me. They were literally pushing and dragging me up. God blessed me with these friends to help me get through it. They showered me with motivational words and made sure I was always safe by checking the path I was walking on.

It’s a cliche but true when they say once you reach the top of the mountain, all your exhaustion will go away. It was indeed worth it! The experience made me stronger physically and emotionally. I realized that I can do so much more if I just push myself.

This is for you, especially for the people who have anxiety. I want you to know that this condition won’t restrict us of our happiness. Anxiety can be cured by believing in ourselves, pushing our limits and taking it one step at a time.
